Nadiah Kanawaty

Nadiah Kanawaty is an Australian multidisciplinary artist and designer whose artistic practice, Casa Vulva, explores the sacred feminine through contemporary iconography. Working across painting, jewellery, ritual objects and gatherings, her work invites women to remember the stories, symbols and archetypes that have shaped feminine identity across cultures. Through mythology, colour and craftsmanship, Nadiah creates contemporary talismans that reconnect ancient wisdom with modern life.

With more than twenty years' experience in graphic design and creative direction, Nadiah co-founded the internationally recognised Australian fashion label Cocksox®, where she led the brand's creative vision from concept to global success. After experiencing burnout and returning to the rhythms of nature, creativity and the moon, her practice shifted towards slower, more intentional forms of making. She is also the creator of the Tune to the Moon Lunar Diary, a self-published annual publication encouraging people to live in rhythm with the lunar cycle.

Today, Nadiah's work centres on The Holy Vulva, an evolving body of work exploring the sacred feminine through mythology, symbolism and remembrance. Through exhibitions, handcrafted objects and intimate gatherings, she creates spaces where beauty, creativity and storytelling become acts of reconnection—with ourselves, each other and the forgotten wisdom carried by women throughout history.

  • "Your art helps the world remember."

As soon as I saw these earrings, I thought they were a revolutionary masterpiece to wear in these difficult times, in which freedom is jeopardized every day by the society we live in, and every time freedom is questioned, women and femininity are questioned. Whenever this happens, we must find the courage to bring our symbols into the world: creativity, beauty, uniqueness, sweetness, and power.

Your art helps the world remember this and remind us how much our right to life hangs in the balance. How we will always be judged as women, whether we are dressed as Mary or as a prostitute, it doesn't matter. You have made this whole concept delicate, wonderful, creative, and strong in a single object.

  • "For Every Woman Who Ever Forgot the Sacredness of Her Own Body"

The moment I unwrapped everything, I felt this wave of reverence… like holding a piece of art created for every woman who ever forgot the sacredness of her own body. I personally don’t burn the candles (I ordered two!) for a couple of reasons — they are sooo pretty, I just can’t burn them. Instead, they live on my altar and hold space for the rituals I create. And the Holy Vulva pendant, oh my goddess, wearing it feels like a blessing on my chest. A quiet reminder of power, softness, wildness, and creation all held in one place. These pieces aren’t just items. They’re symbols. They’re reclamation. They’re devotion. I deeply, deeply recommended for anyone walking a path of embodiment, ceremony, sensuality, and remembrance. Thank you Nadiah for creating such powerful art and for the fast and smooth communication back and forth. I appreciate you and your art!
