Designer. Artist. Storyteller.

I'm interested in the stories we have forgotten.

Through design, contemporary iconography and gathering, I explore how symbols shape identity, culture and our relationship with ourselves.

Hi, I'm Nadiah. I'm an artist exploring how contemporary iconography can help us remember the sacred feminine. Drawing on mythology, symbolism and the rhythms of nature, my work creates new images and shared experiences that invite us to see ourselves, each other and the natural world with renewed reverence.

Artist Statement
Nadiah Kanawaty

My creative practice is deeply informed by mythology, ancient symbolism and the stories of powerful and often forgotten goddesses. I am particularly drawn to the ways the feminine has been represented, revered and reimagined throughout history.

My work often begins with a story, symbol or idea that captures my imagination. Through painting and visual exploration, these starting points gradually evolve into images that bring together beauty, symbolism and deeper meaning.

I am interested in the contrast between ancient cultures that revered female creative power and the ways the female body is often understood and represented today. My work seeks to shine a light on these stories and symbols, inviting us to look again at the feminine body, not simply as an object of desire, but as something powerful, sacred and deeply connected to our shared human history.

Through my work, I explore the stories we have forgotten, the symbols that remain, and the enduring power of the feminine.

I believe art has the capacity to help us remember.

My work is inspired by ancient symbols, mythology, ritual and the overlooked stories of women throughout history. Whether I'm creating a Holy Vulva, writing a Mother Moon letter or gathering women around a table, I'm interested in making spaces where beauty and conversation invite us home to ourselves.
